# Welcome to ArenaSwap Universe

# Background

There are many reasons for individuals to enter the gladiatorial realm of Abaddon. Some are tempted by the prospect of wealth and fame, others are forced as punishment for their worldly sins, and some have even forgotten why they entered in the first place.

Lucifer -high overlord of the Abaddon Arena- is a powerful and devious demon who knows exactly how to manipulate fighters into staying in Abaddon, forever. Poor souls who thought they could out-play the devil himself, but alas, it’s impossible. If you dance with the devil, then you haven't got a clue, for you think you'll change the devil, but the devil changes you.

Lucifer realized the potential of an infernal arena upon observing the aggressive tendencies tortured souls acquire after being tormented for a few millennia. Such vicious hostility could surely be used to inflict further punishment, and so he pitted them against one another and had them fight. Soon enough powerful mortals were vying for the chance of fighting one of these monstrous souls and earning a favor from the devil, unwittingly tainting their souls in the process. Gambling rings quickly formed around the infernal realm of Abaddon, and so was born the arena.

# Team Red

The red team has a large host of extremely capable humanoid fighters who’ve come to Abaddon in hopes of finding something in particular: money, fame, revenge against another competitor… The reasons are endless, as are the fights. While they are fierce warriors, they aren’t usually cruel to their opponents - unless they have a reason to be.

# Team Black

The black team is a cradle of horrors and nightmares, of bloodthirsty, evil and deformed creatures that would do anything to inflict suffering upon their foes. Few humans have found themselves in the ranks of this team, for even the most twisted man pales in comparison of what these beings have seen - and what they have done.

# Team Green

Sacrifices are a cruel invention of Lucifer, a “team” made of weaklings and rookies that are thoroughly unprepared to face the hellish warriors of Abaddon. Nearly every time they come into battle, they are defeated and are murdered in increasingly gruesome ways. They have sometimes achieved draws, making lots of gamblers very angry and a few very, very happy.

# Retirement

While free individuals can technically leave the Abaddon Arena as soon as they complete their contract or objectives, Lucifer is a manipulator with millennia of experience, and he uses this grim charisma to ensure no one leaves unless he deems it appropriate, which happens very rarely. Free will out of the way, there’s only one way out of Abaddon: consecutively winning/losing many battles.

# Limbo

Gladiators who prove unworthy of the arena by being defeated too often are sent to a brutal hellish realm of psychic torment called Limbo. This plane of existence uses an individual’s mind against them, conjuring hallucinations of their worst nightmares and corrupting their memories. The few who’ve ever come out of this dreaded place have acquired permanent scars in their personalities.

# Valhalla

Consecutively winning gladiators are temporarily sent to Valhei, the closest thing to paradise hell can offer. It’s a realm filled with fine foods, unlimited drinks, luxurious accommodations and the best earthly pleasures, readily available. The secret purpose of this plane is to soften up warriors that are perceived to be overly strong, as they unbalance the functioning of the Abaddon Arena. It also acts as a motivation for capable fighters to strive for.
